SP Balasubrahmanyam on fallout with Ilaiyaraaja: We had our issues, all sorted now
Ilaiyaraaja and SP Balasubrahmanyam had a public fight when the former sent a legal notice asking the singer to not perform his songs without his permission. However, they made up and even performed together in a concert held in June.
At a recent media interaction in Hyderabad, the legendary singer opened up about their spat and how they made up. When asked about his fallout with Ilaiyaraaja, he dismissed it as a fight between family members which resolved on its own.
He said, “There was no hatred between the two of us. Just like how members within the family have a difference of opinion, we had our issues but now it has been sorted out. One day Ilaiyaraaja felt like hugging me so he called and I was there in front of him.”
SPB also sang two new songs for Ilaiyaraaja’s upcoming films. These songs will be unveiled in the coming months.
In 2017, SP Balasubrahmanyam, his son SPB Charan and KS Chithra were served with legal notices when they were on a tour in the US. Ilaiyaraaja and SPB’s friendship hit a sour patch after the legal notice. There were mixed reactions from their fans regarding Ilaiyaraaja’s behaviour.
